Freelance TV News Video Journalists - Immediate Start

Innovative Media Company has immediate opportunities for multi-talented, freelance Video Journalists reporting to its Media Center. Our company offers on-demand broadcast news content to newsrooms across North America, and is currently under contract to provide local stories on an ongoing basis for several BC TV stations.

Successful applicants will have the journalistic skills to elicit meaningful responses from interview subjects, the camera skills to record audio and video to professional standards and the resourcefulness to meet tight deadlines. Candidates must have some journalistic background or experience in a variety of video production areas, own or have access to an HD camera and external microphone, and the capability to quickly edit their own work using Final Cut Pro. This is a freelance contract position.

Video Journalists must be located on Vancouver Island, specifically Nanaimo and Victoria. We are also accepting applications from VJA s in the central and north island areas including: Parksville, Port Alberni, Port Hardy, Tofino, Bamfield, Port McNeil, Courteney, and Port Renfrew.

Launched in 2006, the Nobel Women’s Initiative (NWI) is a strategic vehicle of the women Nobel Peace Prize Laureates to leverage the visibility and prestige of the prize to promote, spotlight, and amplify the work of women’s rights activists, researchers, and organizations worldwide addressing the root causes of violence. In the past three years, the Nobel Laureates have been able to bring attention to urgent issues of the climate crisis, IranA US tensions, IsraelA Palestine, the protracted Burmese and Suda nese conflicts, and Mexico and Central America, among many others A using media and engaging with world leaders and activists in public fora.

The Nobel WomenA s Initiative is based in Ottawa, Ontario with another office at the University of Houston, Texas in the Graduate College of Social Work. This position will be based in Ottawa and supervised on a daily basis by Ottawa-based staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The intern will undertake the following responsibilities:

Support the Advocacy and Outreach Program of the organization through:

A Providing logistical and administrative support for outreach on women’s rights and climate change in preparation for and during the UN Climate Change Conference in Cancun in December 2010.

A Providing logistical and administrative support for the 2010 Nobel WomenA s Initiative delegation to the Middle East for peace and womenA s rights.

A Assisting with compiling, copying, and collating delegate kits for Nobel WomenA s InitiativeA s events.

A Providing planning and logistical support for a September event about the impact that media has had on the democracy movement of Burma.

Support the general operations and administration of the Organization through:

A Administrative support for effective functioning of the Nobel Women’s Initiative office (filing, answering phones, faxing, etc)

A Preparing and filing weekly cheque requisitions

A Administrative and logistical support for Nobel Women’s Initiative projects, meetings and events

A Assisting with mail-outs, including the Annual Report mail-out.

Oakley has immediate openings for a Store Manager at our brand new Oakley location to be opened in the Toronto Eaton Centre.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Responsible for the day to day operations of the store

Motivated to drive sales and ensure goals are met or surpassed

Effectively communicates with District Manager on all aspects of business

Maintains store appearance and maximizes profitability by adhering to company visual merchandising standards

Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively

Maintains inventory control at a level conducive to company standards.

Develops high quality sales associates by providing clear, motivating and constructive feedback

Provides an exceptional store experience to our customers and associates that is consistent with our brand by fostering a fun, professional store environment

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent experience.

Experience:

3+ Years of high volume Retail Store Management experience.

Proven ability to recruit teams, maintain inventory and manage apparel/visual merchandising to maximize profit.

Knowledge of Oakley Product a plus, but not required
